Before we keep talking about the Chanukiah, let’s remember where it comes from…

The word ‘Hanukkah’ means dedication, and honours the victory of the Jews over the Syrian-Greek army in 165 B.C. and the rededication of the ancient Temple in Jerusalem.

According to jews who took part in the rededication, there was only enough olive oil to keep the menorah’s candles burning for a single day, the flames continued flickering for eight nights. This event inspired the Jewish to commemorate and publicize the miracle by lighting the candles for eight nights and a special ninth candle called the ‘shammash’ or servant candle which is used to light the other candles.

Here are three important aspects we should know before choosing the Chanukiah:

1.Requirements:

It should have 9 slots for candles, with eight slots on one level and one slot elevated above the rest.

2.Where should you place it:

In the window because like the tradition says, it is a way to share it with the world.

3, The principle of Feng shui:

As an expression of the fire Feng Shui element , candles in the Chanukiah represent purification and inspiration, they warm up the energy and help release daily stress.
